 Missing Fish
Hi all. I was reading the funny fish stories and I have a missing swordtail. He's been gone about 2 days and I can't find him anywhere in the tank! Jokes aside, can any of you tell me where the fish has disappeared to? It is a covered tank so he didn't do a backflip to oblivion plus I checked all around the tank and on the floor. This particular fish is bullied by the other swordtails. Where would he be hiding? I took all of the cover out and lifted up rocks and still no fish. Any ideas?

 It's Back
I don't believe this. I just looked at the tank and the fish is back!!!! I'd still like to know where it could possibly be hiding for days.

 Normal Behaviour
Hello Cindy
It sounds like the one swordie is hiding from the bullies. He's obviously found a good spot. He's probably coming out when he gets hungry. What kind of ornaments do you have in the tank?

 No A Lot
Don't have a lot of stuff. Just a few plastic plants, some real rocks and a big sunken ship. I actually pulled the ship out of the water and he wasn't in there. (I think it's a he. )
You don't suppose he was stuck up in the ship for a few seconds????
This is just so strange. He was no where to be seen for at least 2 days!
Is there anything I can do about the bullying? I don't want to get rid of the other sword tails or anything like that. Will they actually hurt the hiding one??

Has To Be In the Ship
My bet is he is hiding in the ship. Although, some fish can burrow into the gravel. Just be glad he isn't dead, just hiding is my bet. Maybe watch a bit closer and catch him disappearing.

 Pecking Order
There's definitely a pecking order with my fish. I have 3 sword tails and they are supposed to be all male. For the first few months, they seemed to get along, but now 2 of them are chasing the smallest (and dumbest) away from food. He has to sneak around and get a mouth full here and there. He's been out now

 Hungry Is Right
You are probably correct in your hungry theory. Seems like the other swordies are making life a bit tough on him, but he has a way of working things out. Let us know if you figure out where he is disappearing to.
